I had heard reports that otters had taken up residence at Lucchesi Park. Yesterday, I happened to spot four of them. At first they were lounging on the sidewalk. By the time I got the camera out, they were in the water---doing their business. Animal Services says they have been there for about eight months. I've set this up as a "Community Album" which means that if anyone else has Lucchesi Otter Pixs they should feel free to add them

Cool. Hadn't hear about them. Where did they come from? I suppose the creek on the north side of the park leads directly to the river via downtown but it's still a long way off for an animal that usually feeds on shellfish. They could have been planted there for publicity too.

In talking with a "park regular" I learned that the otters come up from Lynch Creek and head, post haste, for the water. When they are done with their "fishing" activities, they run back to the creek. Most likely they came up from the Petaluma River.
