E-Mail from Rebuilding Together Petaluma addressed to all the volunteers at City Hall on October 24:

Just to fix a few facts and figures in your mind about what you accomplished on Saturday October 24th for Petaluma, Sonoma County and the world:

·25,000 square feet of turf were sheet mulched

·This new landscape will save 3.5 Million gallons of water annually.

·It will also save the City of Petaluma $25K per year in water and maintenance costs.

·The work accomplished by 230 volunteers saved $60K in labor costs. We had Volunteers working together from all over the county, all sectors of the community, ranging from age 3 to age 85

· Other cities are inquiring how they can do the same thing!

Here’s who made this happen:

·YOU (230 of you)

·The City of Petaluma management and staff, especially David Iribarne, Water Conservation Coordinator, showed great courage and skill in undertaking a large public works project with an army of volunteers.

·Louise Leff, Landscape Architect and Suzanne Biaggi, Landscape Designer who created the overall landscape plans.

·Rebuilding Together Petaluma ( Link ) doing what we love to do, organizing large volunteer projects for greater community gain

· Daily Acts providing expertise, volunteers, knowledge and vision. This is what they do!

· Petaluma Bounty overseeing the community garden beds and ensuring their future maintenance

· Wyatt irrigation Link our generous project sponsor, and your future supplier of irrigation equipment

· Tres Hombres, High Tech Burrito, and Velasco’s providing the delicious burritos

· Whole Foods Market providing cookies, brownies and apples

· Petaluma Coffee and Tea Company getting us started with morning coffee

· The United States Coast Guard with volunteers who know how to work like pros

· Erik Olson and Permaculture Artisans who brought expertise and the Bobcat

· Jeremy Roach and McDevitt & McDevitt who provided the front end loader

· Greenwaste who donated the garbage cans.

· Redwood Credit Union with employee volunteers

· The Unitarian Universalists with volunteers

· Elim Lutheran with volunteers

· Casa Grande High School volunteers

· Rotaract

· St Vincent’s High School volunteers

Good question. Those pixs were taken from top of ladder. My pixs (see links above) were at ground level.
