Sorry Doobieville is North of here. We used to be an agricultural community. This just makes me reflect on how everyone says new people and ideas in this town are so great and positive for change, but from what I can see our town has gone way down hill since I graduated!!!! To think we have time to complain about a painted sign, when there is so much graffiti. I guess we are not really a town any more. City all the way Frowner

I suppose we owe you a congratulations boob, however I would choke on the words before attempting to utter them. Between the hours of 5:00 and 9:30 tonight the Tool sign has been painted over in gray paint. Wow. What an accomplishment. You must have been busy painting as suggested to you on this thread. In actuality I don't think you would put in the effort to do manual labor. I think you find it much more entertaining to sit in your glass house throwing rocks.

Really people, we're looking at two threads on the same topic. One in the buzz and one in article comments. Boob, if you put half as much energy into something posititve instead of complaining and throwing a fit over something that you don't agree with the city of Petaluma would be a much better place. This person probably wasn't trying to do something illegal (like graffiti). They were likely trying to promote a business on a limited budget in a truly horrible economic time. Code violation, sure, breaking the law...doubtful.

Because you don't agree with something or don't like it doesn't give you the right to railroad someone into doing what you deem to be proper. Maybe you should look in the mirror the next time you think there should be change in Petaluma.

Great point, she always talks about big box and chains should not be here. Than a local is trying to make a living and she shoots them down too, Where is your morality?

Really? Cool!!!

I was told that no one from the city reads these boards so if it was painted over, it was a private citizen that complained to the city. Was not the Boop, I'm too lazy as has been pointed out.

Also, if the city had anything to do with vandalizing the illegal sign with gray paint, why, that should be brought to the forefront. Did you see any city trucks at the crime scene?
Could you identify who was doing the painting?

It's possible that the tool guy first learned of the code status of his sign by reading this thread, called the city to confirm, went.."uh oh,I didn't know that"...and then chose on his own to paint over it himself.

To show there are no hard feelings against the business owner, next time we need some tools (we have a garage full already) we'll definitely check them out, as should all of you. Put your support where your mouth is.

Just curious, how many of you have shopped there? Is it like Rex? How are the prices? Quality? Name brands or cheap Chinese import junk that breaks the first time you use it? Had a hammer go south on me not too long ago and one of the claws snapped off and sure enough, there it was...a tiny gold sticker that said Made In China.

Can't wait to drive by there later on today to confirm what you said, but for now, whoopie!

Well, I just drove by and sure enough, the offending signage has been painted over!

I would like to take credit, but with a sign violation where 15 foot tall letters are involved, it's anyone's guess as to who reported it to the city. Maybe someone from the city had the very same reaction that I did when I first saw it and they took care of it internally.

Now for the Target store!

Just wanted to add how much nicer that area looks with the sign gone. With the city spending millions of dollars to improve that area, it is nice to see them maintaining it.

You know, you sound more and more like TVille every day. And for the record, I don't mean that as a compliment! LET IT GO! First you didn't belive me when I said it was gone. Did you really think I would make it up??? Now nearly two weeks later you have to bring up the sign being gone again. What's the point? You made a huge stink about it in the first place. In your mind the situation has been resolved since the sign is gone, so LET IT GO.

If the city was so worried about the millions of dollars they spent to improve the area, maybe they should actually use the transit area as it was meant for. The original idea was to move the buses off the the residential west side streets. THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED! Commuters still park in the residential neighborhoods surrounding the 4th & C Bus Depot. I would LOVE for the day to come when the commuters acutally parked in the parking garage and walked to the transit area. It's the same distance that they walk from the residential streets to the bus depot now.

As for the sign and the city spending millions of dollars for a project that was done half-way, maybe they should have saved the money. They could have used it to pay the salaries of those that have been laid off. What a waste!!

You sound sour and angry and not at all happy about living here and, I think, just a touch jealous that I was able to single-handedly bring about a positive change to an ugly illegal sign that many saw and were repulsed by, but did nothing to make go away as I did.
If you live close to downtown, you have to accept the fact that...you live near downtown.

If you are so concerned about the buses, parking, and forcing people to march from the parking garage to the Transit Center, why not make a thread about it rather than trying to take over this thread?

Also, do you actually follow people to their cars after they get off the bus? Is that not a bit...um...unusual?

Boop has none. Too busy picking on the little guy trying to make a living. Guess she'd rather see a Home Depot or Lowes there.

Glad you could break away from Wellknown to comment here. And what little guy would I be picking on? Perhaps the one that put up an illegal 15 foot tall sign in the heart of the redevelopment district so they could set up a tools flea market? Where did that guy go? Looks vacant again. If his business model was solely based on his illegal sign and not well thought enough beyond that, I don't know what to say. Why don't you track him down and help the poor guy out with some $$$ instead of being jealous that I posted about the sign first. I think all you regulars here are stunned that I was able to bring about a positive change rather than just bellyaching like most of you do here.

No, I would rather see the old Victorian warehouse that burned down there.
