Barn structure across from new Bus Depot. Letters the size of the building itself!!! This has to be the most flagrant violation of the sign ordinance I've ever seen! We thought it was a practical joke when it went up. Who signed off on this turkey?
1. There is a sign ordinance that every other business in the city limits must adhere to.
2. It is probably the ugliest sign inside the city limits.
3. The city spent millions on designing and developing the bus depot and that sign makes it look like the entrance to a blighted neighborhood where there are no rules.
4.Put a few broken pickup trucks, a few refrigerators and some other outdated appliances up against the building and you have a full blown holler.
5. It had to have been put up illegally. The city would never approve letters of that size. It will have to come down.
The word TOOLS is painted on the side of the building. The letters are the size of the building.
12'- 18' tall?
I believe they are in the historic district which I know for a fact has a sign ordinance unless the river is the boundary.
I sort of remember a large truck parked there (as a shield while the sign was painted?). It can be viewed from the stop light at Washington and whatever the bus depot street is, in fact, you can't miss it!
Those barns are vacant....used to be Arollo companies place of bussiness....if you look closer....you can see it is an amatuer way of painting hinting at graffiti...and really? an argument over this?
It is BLIGHT for those of you that don't understand these things and are comfortable living in a holler.
Graffiti? Really? It would have to be about the dumbest graffiti I have ever seen. Are you the landlord and know for a fact that the building has not been leased?
not the landlord but I do use the bus depot. And it is very possible it is graffiti, it comes in all colors, words, pictures, and shapes. Just a thought....

I have seen it. That is technically still an industrial area. Long before the even uglier "Transit Center". I walked by it. No need to be lazy when I can walk downtown. If you just drove by, I'd say I got a better look at it than you did. So if it's signage, it's no big deal. If it's Graffiti, I've seen worse.
Sure beats the sandwich board slalom downtown.

The word TOOLS is there but the "s" is not filled in. It is outlined as if the sign is still being painted. They allow 12-15 foot tall sign letters in "industrial" areas adjacent to the historical zone in Petaluma?
