PLEASE put the NEWS before the photos on your home page. We all love the photos, but the NEWS should come FIRST.

I wholeheartedly agree... news on top!!!

I'm trying to figure out what the purpose of Petaluma360 is from a new reporting perspective.
As I write this, the Press has 4 entries posted within the past 4 hours. They are marked new and become a meaningful site to go for local news before the next morning's paper. Here there is almost nothing new reported. One item is 3 days old about the carbon monoxide story. Yesterday's Press reported on Monday evening's City Council meeting. There has not been a single news article appear in 360. So while I certainly agree having the pictures above the news is wrong and backwards, maybe 360 is supposed to be some sort of extended "community social" page. That's fine, but call it that and don't lead us to think it is a cutting edge source of news - which is what I thought it was. |

5thgen, I believe this is because they want people to continue to subscribe to the Argus Courier newspaper. If they report everything on Petaluma360, people will no longer have a need to take the paper. It is a bummer though not having current news. The council meeting was Monday evening, the PD had an article the next day, and we may finally see it on Friday...

Tahoe. I would agree with you except the Argus' owner, the Press, reports current news on their site as does SFGATE.
I'm presuming this thread was started by the Argus so they are reading it for our feedback. So my comment is that Petaluma has absolutely no place to get "up to date" news alerts. If there is a traffic matter on 101, Lakeville, etc., without KTOB, it is useless to go to KSRO so your best shot is KCBS. I don't understand Twitter and all that stuff, but it seems to me that someone at the Argus news department could fire on a short blurb for those news items on 360 that would get people used to looking at that site for Petaluma stuff. Anyway, seems like a niche they might want to consider. |

5th.... I agree. And the more I think about it, the more I think sites like 360 and even the PD site, struggle with their place in the new media world. Perhaps they come across as quasi-news because they are. Ideally, I would like spontaneous up to the minute news with updates, etc. I suspect the modern 'news' market cannot support that in our area. Even the PD site doesn't have a lot of movement of articles...
I am a news junkie... I hope we can have a true news site that fills a niche and is commercially successful. |

The Argus is filled with articles today:
Glass to run for Mayor City workers face furloughs, deeper cuts Shopping center builder offers to pre-pay sales tax Where is Rainier project headed? New planning commissioners OK'd, but lawsuit goes on Moynihan clashes with mayor at meeting Petaluma 360, please get these articles up on this site sooner rather than later. Most of these stories are from Monday's council meeting. My subscription will continue. |

I'm wondering why petaluma360 hasn't replied on this thread since April 8, 2009?
Are they reading the posts? Are they listening to the website users? from, Argus suscriber since 1987. |

Even the Petaluma Opinions on this site are a week old, and there were a couple of good ones in the paper today, especially the one written by the Argus. Get these up on the site please!

Tahoe. You bring up a very good point that your subscription will continue.....so will mine.
What I find interesting is a lot of the nonsense person's on these forums "threaten" they will stop their subscriptions if the Argus keeps writing editorials they don't like. Of course, it is the Argus that pays for this site and allows them the room to speak. I think it is very important for the Argus to realize that those of us who are trying to use 360 as a valuable community tool, have every intent to continue our subscriptions. |

Honestly, they put so many articles up today that more than half have already moved off the home page.
I would love to see more news articles, and see them at the top of the page. They can keep all the photo galleries but move 'em down! And please get the Opinions and Editorials updated soon! |

What is with that HUGE picture on the Home Page? It is too overwhelming. The website was so clean and easy to read before and now you have a picture that is far too large for Petaluma360... PLEASE change this back to the original size. Geez, every time I look at the home page I think I am in the article page because of that jumbo picture.

Thank you all for the continuing feedback. We are always looking to improve the site during its continual evolution and we are grateful for the suggestions. Keep them coming!
