Talk about Health & Beauty! The Vineman Ironman 70.3 Triathlon last weekend was a fantastic spectator event. The swim was 1.2 miles in the Russian River. Followed by a 56 mile bike ride and a 13.1 mile run.
The expo at Windsor High School afterwards was like a huge party, full of healthy foods, many exhibits and fun for all. Pretty exciting finish line! Congratulations to the 2,000 participants. I was only watching and I was exhausted, LOL. Link The full Vineman is scheduled for August 1st. |

I agree. Plus this type of event brings many people to town, often for 3-4 days, they eat at local restaurants and fill up all of the local hotels, which helps the local economy and produces both sales tax and hotel bed tax revenues for the town.
How about an event like this in Petaluma? The Artisan Cheese Festival brings a large number of people to town, but an athletic event would be great. |

That is a great idea for Petaluma. I know the Vineman had 2000 entrants from all over the country, and each of them had at least a couple friends or family members to cheer them on. Business was booming at hotels and shops and restaurants.
The Vineman runs on dozens and dozens of excellent community volunteers to streamline it into such a superb event. It would be great to have some big athletic event in Petaluma, but it's a lot of work and planning. |
