Hi everyone,

I just wanted to update those parents who may have an interest in a Dual
Immersion (Spanish/English) Elementary Program in Petaluma. Last Thursday we had a very successful meeting with the Old Adobe Union
School District Board, in which Andi Stubbs (the principal of Bernard Eldridge Elementary school) and some parents made a presentation asking the board to support and approve a Dual Immersion program. We also submitted letters of support and the list of names of parents who are in support of the program. We received an extremely supportive response from the Board who all expressed a strong desire to support such a program. We do not have final approval yet, but things are looking very promising.

This program will allow children to learn how to read and write in both languages. Children graduating from the program will be fully bilingual by the 6th grade. Many of these programs already exist in California
and are very popular with waiting lists to get in. This is our chance to bring such a valuable program to Petaluma.

If you have a child who will be entering Kindergarten or the first grade
in the Fall and are interested in the program please contact Linda Schneider at 792-2810 to have your name added to the list of interested
parents/children. Don't worry if you are still unsure, it is non-binding. We are hoping to have a green light to move forward and
begin registration by the end of March. I will keep you all posted as things progress.

If you have any questions don't hesitate to call.
