ATTENTION PARENTS

PETALUMA SPANISH-ENGLISH DUAL IMMERSION PROGRAM NOW ACCEPTING ENROLLMENT FOR THE FALL 2009/2010 SCHOOL YEAR. PARENT INFORMATIONAL MEETING SCHEDULED.

An exciting new program has been tentatively planned to begin in the Fall of 2009 for students entering Kindergarten or the First Grade. Children enrolled in the program will receive education in both English and Spanish, assuring that they learn to speak, read, and write in both languages.

The benefits of dual immersion programs are many. Research has shown that this approach promotes high levels of academic achievement, bilingualism, and cross-cultural awareness. Fluency and literacy in a second language provide an economic advantage for students, while helping them become more open-minded and broadening their world perspectives. This program will help prepare our students to succeed within the global community of the 21st century

Parents who are interested in the program are encouraged to register with the Bernard Eldridge Elementary School. If you do not live in the Bernard Eldridge Elementary school attendance area you may still enroll your child by obtaining an Inter District or Intra District Attendance Agreement. You will receive this form when you register at Bernard Eldridge. Students will be served on a first come first served basis or a lottery as appropriate.

If you would like to know more about the program please plan to attend the Parent Information night at the Bernard Eldridge Elementary School. Principal Andi Stubbs will be making a presentation about the program and answering any questions that parents may have.
