Thought I would give Masala Jack's it's own forum title. We enjoy Indian cuisine and are looking forward to trying it. It's not a great location in the G&G shopping center. Kind of a tiny hole-in-the-wall.
We were wishing for a restaurant to come into the spot next to Chunky's. Now we are getting yet another copy/mail/send business in that spot. Should have been a cafe or restaurant with all that nice outdoor seating. Oh well....
Masala Jack's is in Cotati, and it's the best Indian food in SoCo next to Sizzling Tandoor. Nice atmosphere (Bollywood films on a large screen TV and the occasional belly dancing!), pleasant service, a much more diverse menu than is standard, bold flavors and fresh ingredients.
The place on Western is almost as good, the one in the Golden Eagle isn't quite up to snuff, and I hear there's a new one where the old (and inferior) Star of India was...? A quick websearch yields a Masala EXPRESS in Petaluma, so that must be what you're thinking of. Indian/Himalayan seems to be the trend du jour.
According to elchicogordo, Masala Jack's is opening up a second location in the spot behind the dental office next to G&G previously vacated by Romeo's and then Lumpia House.
That spot is so small, with only two or three tables.
