Took Mrs. Big Dog to a late lunch / early dinner at Beyond The Glory sports bar and grill located at the Redwood Plaza center near Kohl's. First time there for both of us.
The place is large and open, with a high cieling. Tables are spacious and vary between booths, standard tables and tall bar tables/chairs. Plenty of big screens with a variety of programming. Music over the top of all was 70's and 80's rock, not so loud to distract, which we both enjoyed.
Service was very prompt and very attentive. The menu, while largely what you might expect in a sports bar has some nice touches. All the usual appetizers were present. Mrs. Big Dog started with a generous cup of lobster bisque (soup of the day) which she pronounced outstanding. She had a grilled chicken breast sandwich on ciabatta roll served with an excellent pesto mayonaise and a generous helping of green salad alongside. I enjoyed a griddled ham with mozarella on sourdough that was spread with fresh tomato, red onions and a dollop of Thousand Island dressing which made for a unique mix of flavors. The hot portions of the meal were delivered piping hot.
The full and well stocked bar features well over a dozen different beers on tap and a wider bottled selection. I sampled a Great White lager on draught, twice, which may be a new favorite as I really enjoyed it. A tasty brew, not harsh at all and no hard bite, it made an excellent companion to the meal. Mrs. Big Dog had her usual herbal tea, of which there was a wide selection presented at the table in a wooden tea case.
We were both very satisfied, and full, when we left. We'll definitely be going back.

Recently had the salmon. Delicious! Came with fresh asparagus and real mashed potatoes (a bit chunky which we like!). Fun casual atmosphere, a little noisy, but that's OK.
Agree with the comments already posted. I would add that they are more than willing to make changes to the menu items--for instance, I love their "Fish & Rings." Simply order Fish & Chips and ask them to substitute onion rings for the fries. In addtion to the beers, the bar knows how to make a perfect Bourbon Old Fashion.
I like their food but they charge extra for substitutions. I'd prefer the coleslaw to french fries or salad and they charge $1.50 for it. If I say I don't want any side, they don't deduct anything. Have other restaurants who will reduce the price if you don't want the side dish. Find the best service is that provided by their bartenders. Where do you get coupons?
They run coupons in the value pak that comes inthe mail!!!

We really like this place! It can get quite crowded and noisy, but the food is always great and it's an easy place for a bit; especially when we don't know what we want - there is something for any appetite! I always have trouble not ordering the crab cake sandwich - it's my favorite, but have had pastas and other things and always very tasty and reasonably priced. Great neighborhood spot!!
