Granted, I have only been back a week after being out of town for almost a month so I have not caught up on much. HOWEVER, yesterday I drove down East Madison to the Plaza and noticed that the City made a considerable effort to patch the street surface. All the bumps and holes have been patched and the ride was almost normal. While it is not the resurfacing the street needs (budget problems to be sure) it is a dramatic improvement and a big HUZZAH to the City and the Department of Public Works!

Well, it's a year later and those patches didn't last very long. East Madison is rougher and bumpier than ever. What a shame for a main thoroughfare through this neighborhood.
I think that poorly maintained streets makes for a poorly maintained neighborhood. Just look at some of the houses..... Where is the pride of ownership? Whether you own or rent. Some of them are real eyesores. |
