Wondering if dry dead camphor tree leaves are a fire hazard? My neighbor has never raked his leaves since they moved in four years ago. The build-up is six to twelve inches deep. I heard that camphor leaves contain voilatile oils.

Mentioned it.....no response....they are not elderly or anything like that....just lazy.

I raked them up for a couple years. Then I decided to quit as I have enough of my own yardwork to do.

"Fire Potential: Evolves flammable vapors when heated." "Flammability: 2. 2= Materials which must be moderately heated before ignition will occur. Water spray may be used to extinguish the fire because the material can be cooled below its flash point." Link

Thanks for the link Townsville. I thought dry camphor was combustible. I think I will make a copy and give it to them. This is a nice neighborhood and if baffles us why they have never raked in four years. The weeds are four feet high also. If a tossed cigarette butt ignites, it will burn down our "shared fence".
