The City Council has rescheduled their review of the revised Animal Control ordinances until May 18th. Most sigificant issue is control of feral fat population. The new regs. would declare feral cats to be "nuisances". The feral cat people are enraged. Where is Marilyn Barletta when you need her?

Prev Comment "...PWA docents helped craft a code section in 2004 that led to the banning of feral cat feeding in the wetlands and city parks. Ever since the cat people have been trying to remove these protections that have worked!... The city wants to resolve this issue as the mayor and council persons are constantly bombared with sad stories about Fluffy and Curly (perhaps we should start naming our wildlife at the park!)"

The nuisance is those that claim ownership of all the parks in this town.

Just kill the cats ain't workin'. It hasn't reduced the number of cats around town. The current ordance is cruel and inhumane. It MUST and WILL be changed.

Perhaps we should change the tag line for Petaluma from the Pothole Capitol to the Cat Killing Capitol! It would be more fitting.

Mr Docent, You best think twice about slandering these prestigious women who are only trying to save lives that you have sentenced to death. I am a Petaluma homeowner and taxpayer unlike your committee in Santa Rosa and I don't want my taxes to pay to kill any animal, so get a life what if you were a cat instead of a chicken and someone wanted you dead what do you think about that?

What happened at the meeting? Why dont you trap and release. Killing these animals (unless they are very sick) is very very lame. Trap and spay only. When I lived in San Jose, we did a neighborhood effort to trap and spay the cats (and adopt out the Kittens) and it worked.
