The parking lot at Shollenberger Park and the trail between it and the bridge over Adobe Creek
will be closed from August 24 to "sometime" in November. Dredge spoils are being removed from the northern part of the pond to deepen it. This is required before any additional spoils may be deposited there. Shollenberger is a two function site - a place to pump in spoils when dredging the river or Marina, and a park. Not to fear! You may still access most of the trail from two spots that have parking. The first option is to park near the Sheraton Hotel at the Petaluma Marina and walk the one mile loop to Shollenberger Park. Crossing the bridge over Adobe Creek you would have to take a right. An approximate 1.4 miles brings you along the river and then to the trailhead for the Ellis Creek system. Another option is to park at Ellis Creek (end of Cypress Drive) where there are parking slots for about 80 vehicles. Then you can walk the new Ellis Creek trails or loop back into Shollenberger. The trail connection from the Ellis Creek system to Shollenberger is .3 miles per my handy GPS unit.
