This week our featured bird is the petite Blue-winged Teal. The bird shown is a male (note the white cresent behind the bill). Teals are small ducks and weigh less than one pound. Compare that to the Mallard Duck which weighs 2.5 pounds. This visit the park in the fall, winter and spring but do not nest there. Attached photo will also be added to slide show.
