Totally agree. Lots of traffic flying by on that main artery into those homes, plus shoppers in a hurry to get in and out of G&G center = disaster.

We teach our children to abide by safety laws and then we let a crosswalk signal stay broken for months? Not right.

I have copied your posts and forwarded them to the City Traffic Maintenance Dept. They are usually very accommodating and hopefully this problem will be fixed asap.

Thank you TJMac, we use that crosswalk almost everyday with my kids, it will be great if they fix it quickly.

Thank you

One month later and the crossing lights are still out of order. I also sent a complaint to the city of Petaluma and got no response. I guess someone has to get hurt before they fix it.

The bags were placed over the crossing light buttons around the time that school let out for the summer. I have a feeling that the bags will be removed and the buttons will be working again by next week when school starts back up.

I got a response from the city of petaluma and they said that reviewed the damage and found several broken wires and lights. They are looking into fixing it unfortunetly funding is limited this year and they need to find a way to fund the repair. Lets hope they can get it funded and fixed before school starts.

School started this week and the crossing lights are still not fixed. Still have the out of order bag on them. I thought they would have fixed for the kids when school started, guess I was wrong.

I'm sorry to hear that, Giuseppe. I avoid the area in my car during school times because of the amount of traffic. I can't imagine attempting it on foot. I was with you, and hoped that they would have them back up and running with school starting. I hope it doesn't take an injury to get the problem solved!

Got an update from the Petaluma city council, see below. Does not look like they will be fixing it anytime soon.

We’ve been looking at ways to temporarily fix the lighting. Unfortunately, that doesn’t look feasible at this time because the street wiring is damaged beyond repair. The entire light wiring system needs to be fixed. That means that the project scope and cost has now greatly increased. We are looking into ways to fund replacement of the system.

Mad Good luck with getting that fixed.. you are in for a nightmare all this month and into beginning next month. The City do to poor planning commision, o wait they fired them, or did they just rehire them? Anyways they are going to tear up Ely North from Corona to Sonoma Mountain raceway. They will have one lane control starting at 8am ending at 5, 7am on Saturdays weather permitting.... This is a main road that goes to and from Corona Creek School and child care, Kennilworth JR High and has become a main thoroughfare for Santa Rosa JC..Plus they decided to tear up the sidewalks at the same time. Brilliant. I guess the person who signed this off lives somewhere else other than Petaluma.. what is even better is that this is not one of the worst roads in Petaluma. But have decided to spend your tax $$ on it anyways. Do you think they could have done this work in the summer time or even Thanksgiving, x-mas break? How much is the City wasting on the person making these decisions.

I hope that boy is ok that got hit IN A CROSS WALK, even if he was not walking, I heard on a skate board, he still was in the cross walk at Casa when kids are GOING TO SCHOOL. HELLO.. Your, oops,I mean OUR light will never get fixed until the City is sued by someone that gets hurt, killed in that CROSSING..
Good luck.

Well..instead of crossing the street you should go down to the new soccer field and watch a game or two. The City Council saw fit to spend $120,000.00 to fix that.

I mean soccer and lacrosse is more important than safely crossing the street anyway, right?

Pathetic.......

PTownKidsTaxi and OB1 are so right, I never understood how cities or governments decide they can spend tons of money on something like a new soccer field but have no money to fix safety stuff, or give money to the schools that are in need of it etc. Its baffling? But wow $120000 for a soccer field, did they import the grass from the other side of the world? Couldn't they have done with half that and use the other half to fix these issues?

I really like how they are installing railroad crossings on Lakeville & Washington when there won't be trains there for at least another 7 years (if ever - does anyone really believe the so-called "SMART" train will EVER get built? LOL)
