The exterior of the Community Center is looking a bit dowdy. Many of the windows are caked with dirt, pollen, spider webs and leaves. The whole building needs a good power wash.

The green "bricks" under the defunct clock tower could really use a power wash and definitely a new coat of paint.

The parking lot has been re-striped, so that is an improvement.

The Community Center should be a shining jewel for Petaluma, not a building that looks neglected. They rent out rooms for meetings, wedding receptions, parties, etc. and it should be maintained inside and out.

Maybe there are some service clubs or Boy Scout organizations that could organize some volunteers, since we know city budgets are tight.

Just some ideas.....

TJMac- I could not agree more. I am glad someone else has taken notice. The building could use a good cleaning.
It might be a while though- Just read an article about City Of Petaluma wanting to spend $343,000 on replacing the soccer field turf across the way. The City will probably layoff some more employees to cover the cost.
Good Job CM. Keep up the good work. Target, Friedman's some more tax revenue??? Hello.....

Wonder if Scott Brodhun (Park & Rec Director) reads these forums.

He is the one who should organize a volunteer effort to make the community center shine.

I would like to know why there isn't more of a community effort to fix up some of the problems in our parks. Are there any links to any organized volunteer projects scheduled? Do any of our park and rec leaders have any suggestions?
