Last month there was a thread about visibility issues with the median strip trees at the Kohl's shopping center on the north end of McDowell. A few days ago there was a comment about some trees in the Theater District. Parks and Recreation Department staff attended today's Tree Advisory Committee. They assured me that the best and fastest way to have any questions or concerns about city trees addressed is to phone the main Park and Recreation Department number listed on this linked page. They request that you phone them, not email them. I was assured that every phone call to this number is promptly returned. I hope this helps get citizens with concerns to the right person the first time.

Tanya, are these the same folks who planted the trees in these locations? The trees that will grow too big in the theater district, and the trees that are blocking visibility in the median near Kohl's? Sort of a conflict....hmmmm
P.S. They did trim the median trees, but they will still grow too big in the future and therefore cost more to remove them. |

KRRH, this project was approved before my time on the Planning Commission so I can't speak to it specifically, but generally speaking, trees are planted by the developer. Please call the number I referenced. I'm pretty sure you'll end up talking with the Parks and Landscape Manager who is an Certified Arborist and much more qualified than I am to discuss the appropriateness of the trees and their maintenance.
