I'm wondering how long it will be until there is a serious accident at Rainier and Sonoma Mountain Parkway. Every morning around school time, the lights are randomly changing (red-yellow-red-green-yellow-red-yellow... you get the picture). I called 911 one morning, expecting that an officer would be called in to direct traffic, but nothing happened. Every morning for the past week, it has been the same... confused drivers, screeching tires, nervous kids and parents walking to school. When will this be fixed?

Gripe to the head of Public Works, Vincent Marango! Send him an email via the city's web site and follow up Tuesday morning with a phone call to his office. Could be just a computer problem...dunno.

Sounds like a very nasty situation that needs to be fixed, quickly!

Good Luck! Big Grin

A while back I was in the left-hand turn lane to turn left onto Rainier.

When the arrow turned green and I proceeded to turn, I was shocked to see oncoming traffic coming towards me.

Obviously, they had a green light at the same time I had a green turn arrow.

Now I am always cautious and I don't trust the safety of a green arrow.

Evidently it was NOT just a red light runner...

I hope you took my advice and sent an email or phoned Vince Marango. If not, I encourage you to do so. If they don't know, they can't fix it!

I have not experienced what you have. I live close to there and use that light, just not at the same time as you do.

I NEVER trust a green light anyway....I don't hit the accelerator when the light turns green. Some (censored) jerk who is more important than you or I just HAS to get through that yellow light insted of slowing and stopping for the red.

Oh, sorry TJ....thought Mark was responding....my mistake.

I would advise you to do the same....call or email the city. It is evidently not just one person experiencing this and without doubt more folks.

If you want the phone numbers or email addresses, I'll gladly find that for ya Big Grin
But its easy to find on the city's web site

Well, seems like the Argus printed excerpts from this conversation and from what I heard, there were some city workers there on Friday. Don't know it for fact, but my resource is pretty reliable.

I hope the problem is solved bad enough some jerks run red lights, we don't need a malfunctioning traffic signal assisting them Wink
