I was disappointed to see our Mayor in the Veteran's day parade followed by her sidekick Renee. I am sure she was invited due to her and her council's lack of funding for the parade. I know Rabbit was also in the parade, he should not have been in there, however I do not feel distain for him because I feel he is representing my thoughts and views on the council. Thanks to Harris, Barrett, Healy, and Glass for having the good sense to let the veterans who served this country have their day.
I must agree with you. Any Council member that voted NOT to fund the parade had NO business being in it.
I missed that meeting where the Coucil voted on the funding, I know it was not voted as a city priority....ptownpete, can you list the ones that voted for the funding and those that didn't? Please.......
I generally have a problem with ANY politician participating in a parade to honor veterans. Unless of course they actually are one.
Politicians have no business participating. If they want to honor veterans, line up on the sidewalk and cheer as they go by. Their motivation is always suspect and it cheapens true reason for the parade-to honor our veterans.

Let's just get this straight. They cannot fund our HERO'S both in battle and in our own town, fire, police ect. But yet they can find $140.000.00 for another study on how to stimulate Petaluma's economic demise?? WTF is going on??
PTOWNKIDSTAXI, I find it heartening and wonderful that we, the citizens, managed to fund the celebration of our veterans without having to take tax dollars to do it. It's extra special that the citizens of Petaluma stepped up to this plate without having the funding of the parade imposed upon them from above.
Kudos to all of those who made this event happen voluntarily!
Tahoe, unless you ask him, you'll never know the truth.
Petaluma Defender, same, same. If you don't ask, you can only assume. However, it IS the Mayor's duty to participate in some way. Renee on the other hand had an uncle or relative that served.....Army or Marine Corps, I believe (or so she claims..she also claimed that she could speak Spanish which turned out to be not so true).
4th gen, I DO want to agree with you, however there are some that had parents or very close relatives that served and perhaps it is a fitting way to honor them.
ptownkidstaxi, you have a very, very valid point. You're assuming, I take it, that the City Council uses "rational"
Michael, I made a comment that David was honored and humbled to be in the parade. I really don't care why any of the council members were in the parade and I am certainly not going to waste my time or David's time asking if he (or any other council member) was asked to be in the parade. I stated in another post that the parade was perfect. The Veteran's were honored and the fans were there to cheer them on. This is ALL I care about in regards to this subject.
At some point, hopefully in the not so distant future, people are going to wake up from this 'progressive' fog they've been in for the last 40 years, take a look around and say 'WTF Happened???' Bizarro land: Freaks are normal and normal people are freaks....Welcome to the SF Bay Area....
