With Torliatt, Rabbit, and Healy all throwing the respective hats in the ring for county supervisor, and with the terms of Barrett and Harris expiring, we are hopefully going to see some new blood on the council. We are stuck with Renee and Glass and will be faced with another Measure K. This will be one of the most important elections in this cities recent history. I hope everyone pays attention so we are not stuck with a majority on the council such as the one that we currently face. I also hope everyone has enough sense to not elect Glass as our mayor. Has anyone heard of any potential candidates for council or mayor? I may have to throw my hat in the ring. If I did the last thing you would hear about is feral cats or red legged frogs. I would make economic redevelopment a priority and shelf everything else. Then I would make Glass and Rabbit arm wrestle.
It's a shame to see Rabbit and Healy both in the race for Supervisor. Unfortunately, they are likely to split the "sane" vote, and Torliatt will win. Hopefully one of them will run for Mayor and throw his support behind the other for Supervisor...

Healy's term on the council started last year, so if he does not win the supervisor's race he will still hold his seat. We (Petaluma) needs Rabbit to run for mayor. I would love to hear Rabbit and Glass debate.

Healy's Council term isn't up until 2012. I guess he could run for Mayor, but why would he? For an extra $5 a meeting? In addition to spending his time and lots of $$$ running another campaign, he could lose and then be on the council till 2012 with Glass as Mayor. For the next 6 months how can the city be a top priority for Torliatt, Healy or Rabbitt while they're fundraising, debating and campaigning for the County Supervisor seat?

Don't forget Mike O'Briem who Kerns is endorsing. O'brien, Healy, and now Rabbitt makes it more difficult for Torliatt to get over 50%. If she doesn't with the runoff in November she can't run for Mayor and if she loses "they" will be rid of her, for at least 2 years.
Ptownpete, You talk about new blood what do you think of John King for County Supervisor? Or would you prefer O'brien, Healy or Rabbitt?
For those that advocate for not voting for any incumbent, John King is the answer.
Why is it that we get ticked off at those in office, yet when they run for another office they get voted in? I just can't fathom that.
Its time for someone to represent both rural and urban folks equally. None of the Petaluma council people have much experience with rural folks, King lives in both worlds. How Rabbitt got the endorsement of the Farm Bureau escapes me....there MUST be a real story behind that.........isn't anyone else courious?
Don't know if it's true or not but I was told FB Board President's SON is a member of Rabbitt's Campaign. Also was told the Board members did not vote on endorsing Rabbitt.

Manuel Mendes will be running for mayor. We need someone new not connected to the current council in any form. He can't take papers out until July. Too bad glass is already getting publicity

Glass is certainly not getting good publicity. Other candidates will come forward in time...
Sounds like John King will represent rural more than the majority urban population, also with the creds. he has, think he should run for the water dept.
