Discussion anyone?
It would be interesting to hear stories from runners out there who have participated in this foot race before, as well as hear any tips and logistics for those meeting a participant at the conclusion of the race in Stinson Beach. The Dipsea race is the oldest cross-country race in America. It's a course of 7.2 miles from Mill Valley up over a flank of Mt. Tamalpais, down into Muir Woods and up and down to Stinson Beach, and is most famous for it's climb of 671 steps at the start of the race. The Dipsea takes place each year on the second sunday of June. This year will be the 98th annual Dipsea Race and it happens on Sunday June 8th. For more info check out www.dipsea.org |

I've done this footrace once. And once is enough for this flatlander. This is a race for power runners who have a suicidal tendancy or just plain no fear. Beautiful of course.
My story about the Dipsea? Watch the movie with Bruce Dern then run the trail sometime without the pressure of the race. But be sure to take someone along who knows the route. Best wishes to those about to depart on this event. |
