for many years i saved my cans and bottles to recycle for cash...we do pay a deposite when we purchase, i had to stop because of people coming into my backyard to take them. i then started putting them in the waste recycling bin and its up for grabs for everyone who comes by to dig tnough. how can i stop this. if i chase them away i am afraid of those peoples,

Really? They go into your backyard? Wow!
I once asked a cop if it was against the law for people to get cans out of our recycling can. He said yes. My husband is a garbage man and when it was happening to us (out of the can, not the yard) it was usually when he was on his way to work. He'd scare them off. (He's a big boy)

They're usually going for cans and plastic because it's worth more money and easier to haul off. If you've got more glass than plastic or aluminum, bury them under broken glass.
