Was anyone else awoken last night (friday 1/19) by the sounds of 2 vehicles racing down the runway, or the adjacent taxi-way? The vehicles at first sounded to be just outside our house, however, after the third round of what we thought was street racing, I went outside to see a pickup truck and a sports car, racing from south to north on airport property. It wasn't long before at least 2 (maybe 3?) PPD cars showed up. I couldn't see past the hangars to see what the final outcome was ... anyone else heard anything?
no, but dont you think petaluma should put some sort of facility for kids to go race there cars responsibly. i mean yes there is infineon but you can only race like twice if you lose and it cost 25 bucks AND its only on wednesday.

hmmm ... that post was 18 months old, and just now got a response?
First, no, I don't think it's up to the city to provide a place like that. That's what private industry and private insurance is for, not city tax dollars. If my kids want to race, they;ll take classes at Infineon (Russell Racing or the Karting) or, get their racing license, and join the folks at the Speedway on Saturday nights.
Second, if I remember correctly, it wasn't "kids" who were doing the racing. It was people who had legal access to the airport facility.
Third, part of being responsible is knowing when and where it's appropriate to "race." Obviously the streets of Petaluma or the outlaying areas are not appropriate, no matter How good of a driver he / she thinks he / she is. There are always outside contributors which the driver cannot account or prepare for.
