Curves in the Golden Eagle shopping Center has been pestering drivers for months to leave the spots in front of their gym for their users. Now they have installed metal signs in the oconcrete in fornt of the gym stating parking os only for 30 minutes the time of a workout). Why should gym users need to park right in front? Wouldn't the added exercise from walking a little farther add to the value of the gym?
These are not handicapped spots they are spots for the Curves custom ers. One more reason not to suport Curves. If the owners are local, get a clue! |

To set the record straight: these signs were installed by the owners of the Golden Eagle Center, Basin Street Properties. These spots are limited to 30 minutes and are not exclusive to Curves. They are for any customer of a Golden Eagle business.

Are these signs ONLY in front of the Curves location or are they in front of each and every Golden Eagle business? Did the Curves owner ask to have these signs installed right in front of their store? We were at Baskin Robbins a couple hours ago and didn't notice any 30 minute signs in front while we sat in our car eating cones.
So, here is the odd thing...you mean I am at risk of being TOWED if I spend more than 30 minutes in the stores at Basin Street Golden Eagle Shopping Center? Isn't that ANTI-Business? In this economy? Are they nuts? You don't want us in your stinking parking lot for more than 30 minutes? Really? 30 minutes in a shopping center? How ANTI-CUSTOMER can you get? The parking garage gives at least an hour (or is it two) before they ticket, right? So, do the owners of Curves call the police and have cars towed or ticketed when the 30 minutes is up?? Who enforces this? Wouldn't their time be better spent running the gym? We've parked in front of Curves and eaten at Dempsys and it always takes at least an hour. Do you mean we have to now go move our cars every 30 minutes so we don't get a ticket? Probably not such good advertising for Curves, eh? |

Despite having a major craving for a Dempsey's Ceaser tonight, I haven't been down there yet. I bet when I go, I'll find a few 30 minute signs only near the Curves. I think there has been similar signage near the dry cleaner in the center for years. I don't have a problem with a landlord setting aside a few spots between two restaurants for a business whose customers only need to park for a few minutes. If that makes the difference for a few people getting on the road to good health, I'm willing to walk an extra 50 feet to get to my salad and Red Rooster. I'm happy to see landlords working with tenants to make their businesses more successful.

Walked by it this morning. A total of three spots with signs. I don't have a problem with it.

Paula, those 30-minute spots are for all the businesses in that corner of the shopping center.
You can go into Dempsey's, Flippers, Everest, Banyan Tree and pick up your order to go. You can go into Curves for your 30 minute workout. I think the Golden Eagle did this right. Many folks also take up the limited spaces in this parking lot and walk across the pedestrian bridge towards Petaluma Blvd. They leave their cars in the GE lot for hours. Having these three 30 minute spaces is a GOOD thing! Please reply back.... |

Wow, isn't there still soldiers being killed in a war and we worry about 30 min..come on people..wake up. I really do not think that this is inforced much by the City. I don't see many meter maids going into shopping centers to ticket one or two cars with no proof of how long they have been there.. just a scare tactic. Probably the best spot for the signs instead of the places that I regularly shop or go to eat. Could you imagine the uproar at City Hall if they had been place in front of BR..
