The idea of "one-price" pricing is OK, but....we don't ride the rides or stay for the concerts. Wish they had an admittance price a little more reasonable, like it used to be.

Make something to enter into competition... a food item, an art work or craft piece. All exhibitors can purchase up to two half price tickets.
I've got mine. |

The fair is fun this year. The music lineup seems better than before and a lot more people I know are going. Do you think the fairgrounds will ever be sold for development, as the rumors say? I don't know if Petalumans would stand for that, especially if the fair didn't move somewhere else but just disappeared.

Mrs.BigDog and I were at the fair last night with our 18 year old niece who is visiting from out of town. The observations I had:
* It didn't seem too crowded. Late teens and early 20's kids weren't really apparent until after dark. Maybe they were all hanging in the carney? * The Abbacdabra show, ABBA tribute band, was okay, but attendance was extremely sparse. No where near what I've seen for other acts over the years. * Seemed like less arts and crafts entries with each passing year. Looked like less than last year to my eye, but I could be wrong. * Police presence was not overwhelming or oppressive as it has been at times in the past. Instead it seemed about right. The Petaluma PD and FD resources kept moving and appearred to be making positive contacts more often than negative ones. My opinion... if the overall attendance numbers don't start trending up it is probably just a matter of time. The property is too valuable for developers. I also think that the race track is living on borrowed time. As Petaluma continues to Marin-ify, with Marin attitudes and NIMBY-ism, I figure it's only a matter of a few years before an initiative is launched to close down the track. |

The Argus has $2 off coupons stuck to the front of today's paper. Every little bit helps!
Parents -- it's hot -- please protect your babies and kiddies from the sun during the daytime hours at the fair. |

Sorry, that I'm a late joiner to this forum ... but ... maybe it's not too late to ASK?
What did you think of the Sonoma-Marin Fair website this year? http://www.sonoma-marinfair.org Now that I've asked, let me say why and do a little lobbying ô¿~ I'm the fellow who proposed and designed the 18 customized video players (television shows) that still appear on the website. I (humbly) believe that the end result is one of the best websites in The World, because of it's ability to communicate with video (the virtual fair.) But, what do you think? And what do you think about this presentation, that will last forever worldwide? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4VexH5FHgHw ( I'm guessing one can't embed the video on this webboard ? But, you can in a number of places and that will continue to grow and improve. ) I was extremely pleased that it helped achieve a goal that Petaluma cares about ... becoming more World Famous. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s-YTy2KeAzI And http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aNT_6GI1bbw With a little additional effort and support this could continue. BUT, again, what do you think? http://www.socool.com/thankyou !!! |
