My only distrust is in the motives of the author of this article. I certainly am not one of those "Petaluma citizens been so justifiably outraged by such brazen and counterproductive power mongering". Can anyone step up and tell me they are one of these "Petaluma citizens". No out of town developers please. What is brazen is the acts of moneyed interests, read out of town developers, in their control of city council for so much of the last decade.

You are definitely in the minority Paul. And I am a Petaluma citizen, along with my wife, my friends and neighbors and colleagues. The Council majority violated the law in order to further their own political agendas. The editorial is an excellent summary of this whole sordid mess and demonstrates why so many people in town don't trust the Council majority to act in the best interests of all of Petaluma's citizens.
Paul, or Mr. Petaluma Tomorrow, this article is right on with how most people in Petaluma feel about the majority council's actions. The only reason you question the motives of the author is because you are against any new development. If you can sit here and say that the firing of those dedicated and experienced planning commissioners was fair, just, or ethical, then you clearly have a problem. And let's not forget the actions of the council majority were illegal and very costly to the City of Petaluma.
Here is a reminder of what could have been done - Link - yet it was completely disregarded.
Yes, a great summary of recent events. I still don't know how the Majority got away with it without violating the Brown Act. That in its self is reason for concern.
I wonder how this will play for Mayor Torlaitt's bid for Supervisor? Will people remember? What about Glass' bid for Mayor when (quite smugly) touts that the office will be open once Torliatt is elected to the Supervisor position. The over confidence of these folks bothers me.
Bruce, is Paul in the minority? That will remain to be seen in about a year from now, don't ya think? Also, if you look at Petaluma Tomorrow's web site, they say they're for "Open Government", is this the kind of "open government" that they're advocating?
Paul, you will see a bunch of build build build folks on these forums who are mad at the council and think they are the majority of Petaluma. But, no I am not a "Petaluma citizens been so justifiably outraged by such brazen and counterproductive power mongering". I voted for my representatives based on what they said in their campaigns and have not been let down.
I'm not one of those either. Every politician has a political agenda and I vote accordingly to whichever political agenda I like the best. That's how American politics works. Thank you for the breathe of fresh air City Council
If you folks want to blame the unethical decisions of the council majority on John Burns, then it is absolutely clear you are all the new and inexperienced planning commissioners, spouses, siblings or otherwise. Everyone I know agrees with this article - it was nothing but the dirtiest of politics. Also, if you are in such disagreement with the Argus and their editorial staff, perhaps you should not be on Petaluma360 as this IS the Argus Courier.
Divide and Destroy. Burns, please keep your tactics to your own town.
Dirty politics? I guess you haven't been following along very many years. Nothign new. Dirty politics is right, Burns! Waiting to see him running for office! He would make a perfect politician!
City council is doing alright. not perfect but just fine...I am with the un-outraged Petalumans as well.

elienos, again, I ask you and your folks what was ethical about firing dedicated and experienced planning commissioners? Not one person that backs this majority council has answered this question. You all throw out words with no justification of the councils actions.
And talk about divide and destroy - this is not the Argus, this is the council majority!
elienos, I haven't heard your response to my question yet. You have since posted on other topics. This is so typical of you.
ptlmafrnd, this is what I mean. You will never receive a clear and factual response from her. I know you are waiting for a response from elienos on this forum - Link - Good luck!
Tahoe, its "hit and run" tactics. But I think you know that, its what they do best. When one does that they don't have to "justify" anything. Rather easy, isn't it?
I guess we'll be finding out in the next few months who's war chests are being filled and from whom. What endorsements are being given to different candidats (actually I use that on the negative side rather than the positive side).....Then we'll find out what direction the City wants to go when we vote in June.... :-)
