What wonderful human beings these Sampsons are. Can't wait for the book.

The most amazing part of this story is that there is a "journalist" that felt it newsworthy. Seriously, why not contact the mentally diturbed lady at East Washington and McDowell and find out about the Kennedy Conspiracy while you're at it. Shame on you Mr. Johnson! Slow news day or not, the Sampsons are repeat criminals with a long history of drug abuse, theft and other crimes. Why are you giving them a public venue to rant about ridiculous allegations?
Why is this news? Two lifelong criminals didn't do any crimes this week...but they have health issues??? Who cares? Have they rehabilitated themselves? Now THAT would be the story.

I agree with you wakeup.. How could a paper even give the time of day to two men who have done nothing for their community except fill it with drugs. The fact that just one person may read this and think for one second the Sampsons are anything other than a drain on the city and county sickens me. If its a bad news day interview a girl scout or a Fireman or anyone who does somthing oter then commit crimes and crys about doing the time for it....

Hey Dan Johnson,
What about all of the hard working people in Petaluma that have contributed to society? Are you going to put an article in the paper with their picture when they get sick? Your article makes everybody sick! Did you squeeze the interview in while out at the compound. What is the matter with you? Everybody in their right mind knows that the Sampson's are theives, dope dealers and wear stupid T-shirts. Nobody cares about these people. I am still cleaning all of their garbage out of my yard from the last flood we had. Dan, you need to find a new job. You are not good at this one. |
Are they really that notorious?
If you grew up here, yes. Have you ever seen their metal walled in compound? |
Yep - I did indeed grow up in Petaluma (and have roots here going all the way back to my Great Grandparents). I am familiar with the Sampson Twins; their 'Compound', attempts to run for public office, as well as their numerous brushes with the law.
While I don't condone a lot of the behavior or any law-breaking activities I will say that I'm in agreement with their opinion of local law enforcement. Regardless of the title that any one individual holds, there should ALWAYS be accountability for inappropriate behavior, or excessive use of force - especially when this person is a Public Servant! Doesn't sound like a lot of people on this forum approve of the source of the complaint, but let's face it - 'The Squeaky Wheel gets Greased'. The complaint is valid, regardless of the source. |

True, a la Rodney King etc... right? Georgeez , also what is the main complaint against the police? |

Though I have observed many things over the years, it would be my own experience going back some 10 years ago that still sticks in my craw. I am by definition considered to be 'petite'. Though I am considered to be tall, I still weigh all of 120 pounds. I am also not a spring chicken - I am a mother and grandmother as well (if that tells you anything). And it was on this evening some 10 years ago that I was stopped for not having my headlights on. Okay... but beyond that it was discovered that I was intoxicated above the legal limit - .08 (I believe .07 is the legal limit). There was no arguement or verbal confrontation on my part, no obvious sign that I was going to try running away (in my high heels), and still this officer seemed to think it necessary to use excessive force to slam me up against a patrol car and yank my arms out of their sockets to place handcuffs on me! (There was a passenger in my car that witnessed all this by the way.) I'm not disputing any charge - indeed, it was treated as a minor offense when I appeared in court, so that's not my gripe. It was the excessive man-handling demonstrated by the arresting officer that I contest. I have to wonder that if I were seriously injured as a result of this over-the-top handling, would I have any recourse against the arresting officer? Based on what I've seen in the recent past (and heard from others) Police Officers will make it abundantly clear that any type of Civil suit or complaint would be useless as it's their word against ours. Seems to me that as citizens that maybe WE should be the ones riding around with video cameras in our cars to monitor the behavior of police officers and their behavior toward us. Ever caught a glimpse of some of the YouTube stuff that's out there? |

I happen to be a child of one of the twins and find it appaling that people who have no idea what they are talking about have so much to say. How many of you actually know them and what they have done? Most of you hear something and of course it must be true. As for the comments about their children, some of us grew up and became productive members of society. All through my childhood I was told by law enforcement in Petaluma that I would never amount to anything because of my family. Thanks for the vote of confidence. By the way I have never once been in trouble with the law. The harassment does exist. I am pulled over almost everytime I visit my dad for no other reason than I was talking to a Sampson (gasp). For all of you who have so much to say, why don't you take a look at your own family. I'm sure they're perfect.

JD - Thank you for posting from "the other side." I hope that people remember the age old lesson not to judge a book by it's cover. I can't imagine what people would think of me if the only opinion they formed of me was without meeting me and solely on the action of family members. |

Are you seriously serious? Any shred of ignorant respect I had for you just went out the window with this pipe dream declaration of legal intent... on an anonymous public discussion board none the less !
Here's some free legal advice... "Slander" is spoken word calumny. Since this is a text based forum, you would need to sue to "Libel". Good luck with your "Discovery", there is so much pending litigation surrounding internet anonymity. This is so hilarious, I could only hope that I had been included in this dog and pony show attempt at civil legal action. -Howard H Humphrey II **** Gen. (Ret) Esq. Ph.D M.D. |
