No, I am not talking about George Costanza. This is about the box of granola bars that I just purchased which now contain FIVE bars instead of six. I know that a half-gallon of ice cream is no longer a half-gallon, but all this grocery shrinkage is ridiculous.

And now your 18-oz. jar of peanut butter contains 16.3 ounces. It looks the same, but the bottom of the jar is deeply concave.

Our 4% raises can barely cover what feels like 20% increase for cost of living. Food, gas, tuition, over valued real estate, and general inflation is cutting into savings.
America is screwed.

My wallet feels downsized. I used to go to a bar to enjoy a Lagunitas beer. Now I downgrade to budweiser at home. This in turn hurts Petaluma but I am a slave to my bank account and the downturned economy. It's a vicious cycle between hope and despair.

Save me Obama!

The ice cream thing really bums me out. Mad We enjoy too much of that good thing and I feel guilty about the packaging. We recycle it, but I'm not sure it's actually recyclable because of the waxy (plastic?) lining. So it probably costs the collective Us even more in the longrun.

Now you tell me peanut butter jars are shrinking. PB is a food group in our house.

You're right Pikko. A very vicious cycle. We need an emoticon with tears.

4% raise? You're one of the luckier ones.

It is interesting how many items are getting smaller, we can now buy a six pack of soda that is more like a three pack when you look at the total volume. I do have to say that for many things we buy, such as soda, they should be in containers that are single serving this would save us from being a fat nation.
Pikko I have to say that even with the economy the way it is I would never drink Budweiser...I can't call having a beer spoiling myself or splurging if I don't drink a beer that I really love.

Budweiser???? My god man, are you mad? Just buy a 12 pack of Lagunitas and enjoy at home with your buddies. Much cheaper, and tastier!

Seriously, not making fun of you, but it's been said alcohol industries are so called recession proof. People who drink will drink.

I swear my (Target brand) toilet paper now looks about 1" less wide than it was last month. Come on now!

I wondered why our box of Cheerios only lasted two days. It shrunk down to 8.9 ounces! Not such a bargain after all.....
